The museum is housed in the building on Jánský vršek, just a few steps from Nerudova street, which was formerly the location of Vinárna U Magistra Kellyho (Master Kelly’s Wine-bar). The exhibition focuses on the most famous era of alchemists, the reign of Rudolf II.
The motto of the museum is: Many paths lead to wizardry, but from it only one. This one path, as it seems, is the path which Doctor Faust took from this world – a hole in the ceiling. This, too, can be found in the new exhibition. Apart from a small exhibition on alchemy in Golden Lane, the new museum is the biggest attraction commemorating this fascinating period. Another, more modest, reminder of Prague alchemists can be found in Malostranská bridge tower.
